We are seeking a Nurse Supervisor (RN) to join our team of dedication addiction treatment professionals! The Supervisor of Nursing plans, supervises, and participates in the delivery of quality nursing, oversees patient-care operations, assigning and monitoring staff nurses and identifying and implementing quality improvements.
SHIFT:
Mon-Fri 9:00a-5:00p
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the 24-hour management of the Nursing Department and assuring that the daily tasks of the Nursing Department are carried out in accordance with facility policy and in compliance with State, Federal Regulations, and JCAHO Accreditation Standards.
• Knowledge of program policies and procedures.
• Assist in ordering medical supplies and store these supplies in a proper manner.
• Knowledge of checking the stock for expired items and replaces those with new stock.
• Interview all new nursing candidates for hire to his/her unit and participate in the hiring process.
• Orient all new nursing personnel on his/her unit/shift.
• Arrange for adequate staffing of his/her unit/shift accessing the nursing per diem pool.
• Take every opportunity to educate those registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing aides, and mental health aides under his/her supervision and document it in their Credentialing folder.
• Assists with supervision and performance appraisal by assisting the director of nursing supervise the activities of the staff to ensure that they are working efficiently, and a professional environment is maintained in the facility. The Assistant Director of Nursing evaluates the performance of the staff in the nursing department and presents the reports to the nursing director for further evaluation of the staff.
• Formally discipline those employees failing in any aspect of their job description. Create an objective, time specific, correction plan that the employee can understand and follow.
• Assists in formulating standards for patient policies and procedures.
• Performs clinical nursing activities in a safe, professional manner.
• Maintains compliance with established nursing care standards.
• Assists in supervising and instructing patients in medication self-administration, (the preparation and giving of injections) as ordered by doctor.
• Assists in obtaining lab specimens as ordered by doctor
• Assists patient in obtaining medications from pharmacy
• Promotes good public relations between program and nursing department.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree
- Current NY State Board of Nursing License and Registration
- Current basic life support for health provider (BLS) and CPR
- Knowledge of Substance Abuse Treatment
- At least 1 year of experience working in substance abuse treatment.
