Surfpoint Recovery is a cutting edge substance-use-disorder (SUD) treatment center located in Coney Island, Brooklyn NY. We are an OASAS-licensed and CARF-certified Center of Excellence. Surfpoint Recovery offers inpatient detox, withdrawal, and stabilization services, as well as inpatient rehabilitation services for individuals with substance use disorder. The Patient Care Coordinator Searcher (PCC Searcher) is responsible for conducting searches of patients and their property to ensure no unauthorized substances and illegal items are present upon admissions. The PCC Searcher position requires meticulous attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the facility operations, workplace safety, and substance use prevention policies.
Shift: Saturday - Sunday (9:00am - 5:00pm)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct frequent, thorough searches of the facility to ensure that no unauthorized substances are present.
- Adhere to established search protocols and safety procedures to protect oneself and others during search activities.
- Responsible for performing a non-contact search of all patients
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the facility layout, operations, and processes to identify potential hiding places or other areas where prohibited substances could be present.
- Participates in the urinalysis process for patients either before or after search.
- Responsible for issuing a receipt for any items removed from the patient during the search process.
- Searches in a way that respects patients’ dignity, and in a manner which is as private and minimally intrusive.
- Understands that if a patient becomes irate, hostile and/or aggressive, to remove oneself and get supervisor immediately to aid with de-escalation.
- Conducts searches of room and property in a way that is as minimally disruptive as possible.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when conducting searches or interacting with personnel regarding sensitive substance abuse issues.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of related work experience
